Volvo C40 and XC40 Recharge models will switch to RWD in 2024, increasing range to around 300 miles.

The C40 and XC40 electric SUVs now come in a single-motor 248-hp variant with a 297-mile range and 293-mile range, respectively.

The C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge vehicles are among the major adjustments Volvo is making to its EV selection for 2024. Both gain a new single-motor, rear-wheel-drive model with a larger battery and significantly more range, and the existing dual-motor, all-wheel-drive models also gain range due to efficiency upgrades.

With a 248 horsepower electric motor and a 79.0 kWh useable battery, the new RWD vehicles can go 297 miles in the C40 Recharge and a slightly shorter 293 miles in the less aerodynamic XC40 Recharge. The increased DC fast-charging rate of 200 kilowatts that these models are also capable of enables them, according to Volvo, to charge from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes.
